Summary: Using a QSYS Core as a Grandmaster (GM) Clock for Omnistream—
This article addresses a challenge which arises when a QSYS device is to be used as the GM in a Omnistream AES67 system.
Challenge
Despite setting the PTP priority in your QSYS Core to a low value such as 1, Omnistream devices continue to act as the GM.
Resolution
Set all of your Omnistream device PTP Priority #1 settings to 255 and ensure that the PTP Domain is the same as the one used in the QSYS. In QSYS Designer, set PTP priority to 1.
Although there are two PTP Priority settings, the QSYS will only allow you to change Priority #2. The Priority #1 setting defaults to 254. So to become GM, Omnistream Priority #1 has to be set lower--to 255.
