Summary: Windows Drivers for Extender Updates—Drivers needed for extender updates are sometimes not installed on Windows machines. This article will guide you through the driver installation process.

Troubleshooting

If you are using Analyzer software to update an HDR extender, you may not be able to find a COM port or you may get the "Boot connect failed!" error.

If you are using the Windows batch file to update a UHD extender, you may get the "Error: Could not find target. Please check board connectivity" error.

To confirm a missing driver, plug your USB extender into your Windows computer using a mini USB cable.

Next,

  1. Open the Windows Device Manager from the Windows Start Menu. Then scroll down to "Ports (COM & LPT)."
  2. You should see "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)" or  "XR21B1411 USB UART (COM#)," depending on the extender model you are connected to. For example,

If you do not see the above COM devices, you may need to install the appropriate driver below.

Driver Installation

If your extender is one of the following:

  •  AT-UHD-EX-70-2PS
  •  AT-HDR-EX-70-2PS

Download the Prolific Driver. Open the zip file, extract all files, and run the installer program.

If your extender is one of the following:

  • AT-UHD-EX-70C
  • AT-UHD-EX-100CE
  • AT-UHD-EX-100CEA

Download the MaxLinear Driver. Open the zip file, extract all files, and run the installer program.

Once you have installed the appropriate driver, unplug your extender USB cable, then plug it back in. You may then perform the extender update procedure again.
