Summary: Howto and Tips for Using UHD-PRO3 IR and RS-232—This article provides helpful information relating to UHD-PRO3 IR and RS-232 control and pass-through.
Infrared Pass-Through
- Each "IR IN" and "IR OUT" port is hardwired to the respective output zones.
- You cannot route IR from port X to zone Y.
- You must use an HDBaseT receiver which supports IR.
- Atlona recommends the AT-UHD-EX-100CE-RX.
- If your display device has a direct HDBaseT port, that display device must support HDBaseT 5Play to receive IR over HDBaseT.
- Send signals into Atlona RX ports. Signals are sent from Atlona TX ports.
RS-232 Pass-Through
- RS-232 commands can be routed to any output zone.
- Commands can be sent from a control system into the UHD-PRO3 series matrix "MAIN" RS-232 port.
- Commands can be received at the LAN port and sent as RS-232 out of any zone port.
- RS-232 commands must be of the form: RS232zoneX[command] where X is the zone the command is to be routed to.
- Example: RS232zone1[PWON]
- You must use hex escape commands for any spaces or termination characters.
- Example: RS232zone1[~0000\x200\x0D] to send "~0000 0" to zone 1.
- You must use an HDBaseT receiver which supports RS-232.
- Atlona recommends the AT-UHD-EX-100CE-RX.
- If your display device has a direct HDBaseT port, that display device must support HDBaseT 5Play to receive RS-232 over HDBaseT.
- Ensure the RS-232 zone output is set to the correct parameters specified by the devices you would like to control.
- This setting is found on the "Control" page of the UHD-PRO3 series web GUI.
- See this article for more information on accessing the web GUI.
- If you are not using the feedback from your display device, leave the RX terminal at the HDBaseT receiver unconnected.
- Some displays will send out excessive and unnecessary data and this can cause processing delays.
- Make sure the floating RX wire cannot short against any shielding or the TX wire.
IR Control of the UHD-PRO3
- The IR input port on the UHD-PRO3 series is not powered.
- This port is intended to be hardwired to a control device IR output port.
- IR codes for the UHD-PRO3 can be found here (.DOC).
RS-232 Control of the UHD-PRO3
- The default baud rate of the UHD-PRO3 series is 115200.
- RS-232 commands for the UHD-PRO3 can be found here (.PDF).
