To set a static IP address on a Mac, follow the steps below:
- Open System Preferences
- Navigate to the Apple symbol at the top left of your screen and select System Preferences...
- Click Network
- On the left column, select your network interface (this example is for Ethernet, same applies for Wi-Fi) then choose the dropdown menu for Configure IPv4: and select Manually.
- Type in the IP address you will use for your computer (making sure that there is not another device on the network with the same IP address), the subnet mask, and the router's IP address.
- Next click Apply.
