If you are connecting UHD-EX HDBaseT extenders between a 4K-capable source and a 4K-capable display and you get no video, there might be a few causes:
- Check that all cables are working and seated properly.
- Connect the source directly to your display via HDMI and confirm you have video. Configure the output resolution to one that is compatible with all interconnected equipment including HDBaseT extenders. Reconnect the equipment with the HDBaseT extenders and confirm you have video.
- If you still have no video, then it is possible your source (such as AppleTV 4K running tvOS 12.1.1+) forces EDID negotiation upon HDMI connection, preventing you from retaining the configuration:
1. Display transmits EDID out the HDMI Input to the Source
2. Source automatically negotiates to the best output resolution it supports within the EDID table
3. If this resolution is unsupported by the extenders, such as resolutions that fall within HDMI 2.0 spec, then there will be no video
To workaround this challenge, an AT-ETU-SYNC placed between the source and HDBaseT transmitter can be used to force EDID negotiation with the source to a resolution that is compatible with the HDBaseT extenders:
1. AT-ETU-SYNC disregards Display's EDID table and transmits EDID out the HDMI Input to the Source
2. Source automatically negotiates to the best output resolution it supports within the EDID table
Note: AT-UHD-EX-100CEA-KIT will manipulate the EDID from the display to strip resolutions unsupported by the extenders from the EDID table, allowing the source to negotiate to the best output resolution it supports within the EDID table.
