KB01509 - Can the Apple USB-C Charge Cable be used to pass video?


Q: Can the Apple USB-C charging cable that comes with MacBooks be used to pass video?

A: No. The Apple USB-C Charge Cable supports charging and data-transfer speed at 480Mbps (USB 2.0) and it doesn't support video. The Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cable supports full Thunderbolt 3 - 40Gbps and USB-C 3.1 Gen2 - 10 Gbps.
