Subject: Dolby Vision at 4k @ 60hz not passing through HDR-EX-70-2PS, Dolby Vision 4k @ 30hz works fine
Explanation:
Currently, the AT-HDR-EX-70-2PS will support up to HDR10 4k@24/30/60 . They will also support Dolby Vision 4k@24/30 (Dolby Vision 4k@60 is not a supported resolution of the chipset used inside the units). As of this articles creation, all other manufacturers using the HDBaseT chipset will be up against the same limitations, unless they are scaling the 4k Dolby Vision image down to 30hz on the input and then upscaling it to 4K @ 60hz on the output. The reason for this is due to the fact that the new AppleTV 4 supports Dolby Vision and can pass Dolby Vision 4k @60hz. In order to get Dolby Vision to pass through the HDR-EX extenders, it is recommended that you manually set the AppleTV to 4k @ 30hz.
Atlona is currently exploring options to get Dolby Vision 4k @ 60hz to pass.
Atlona does currently offer switchers and matrices that support Dolby Vision 4k @ 60hz.
