Explanation:

If your TV/Projector supports audio playback through its speakers but you can’t hear any audio when you have an AVR installed before the TV/projector (but the AVR is able to play audio just fine), this may be due to the fact that the AVR’s settings prevent its HDMI outputs from passing audio (as the AVR is acting as the default audio playback device in the system).

To overcome this, it is recommended that you check your AVR’s settings and verify if there is a way to enable audio pass-through. This will allow audio to be passed from the AVR’s HDMI outputs and out to the TV/projector. For example, on an Onkyo TX-NR646 AVR, the “Audio TV Out” setting being turned ON allowed audio to be passed through the AVR to the TV:
