IR Passthrough on OMNISTREAM

This Article is assuming you have already configured the Encoder multicast addresses for session 2 Aux address.

Start with Physical Connections:
We will be sending the IR from the AT-OMNI-111 Encoder to the AT-OMNI-121 Decoder.

On the Encoder we will take the Control System Signal and "Receive" it at the Encoder Serial port 2 "RX" connection.

On the Decoder we will "Transmit" the Signal to the IR Emitter using the Decoder Serial port 2 "TX"

Velocity Virtual Matrix:
In the Virtual Matrix you will see all the omni devices added in your Velocity Project.
The Virtual Matrix is found in the top left menu under Management. 2024-10-03_08h55_32.png

Then for IR we will start with View and Change this to Control.

Now we can see the different Encoders and Decoders and the control ports they currently have connected.

On the Encoder you will be sending the IR in from the Control system we will click on the Options button and this will bring up a window on changing the Serial 2 port to IR Passthrough.

Same for the Decoder where the IR Emitter will be connected.

Now that the Virtual matrix has made the settings for you in the Encoder and decoders we will be able to click on the corresponding routing.

Once Selected and connected we will see the Icon showing Connected:

Now if the Multicast was configured and physical connections made correctly sending an IR signal to the encoder should see the decoder flash.

Behind the Scenes / Manual Settings:
What this Virtual matrix is Doing in the Encoder and Decoders or to make these Connections manually in the Web UI of the units.
Encoder:

Under Serial Tab:
Velocity will set the serial_port2 to infrared

Under Session Tab:
Will set Session 2 AUX to use serial_port2 with the Multicast you have set and port 1200

Decoder:

Under Serial Tab:
Velocity will set the serial_port2 to infrared
Then Set the serial configuration serial_use2 to
Port: serial_port2
Mode: output
Input: ip_input5

Under IP Input Tab:
Input 5 assigned in Input above will be pointed to the Encoder's Session 2 AUX Destination address and UDP port 1200

Now in Velocity make sure your IR assignments are made and test the commands are firing through the these settings.
