KB01216 - When an RS232 command is sent through the extenders, the device receiving the RS232 command does not respond but feedback is received at the sending device.

SKU: AT-UHD-EX-70C-TX and RX, AT-UHD-EX-100CE-TX and RX

Subject: When an RS232 command is sent through the extenders, the device receiving the RS232 command does not respond but feedback is received at the sending device.

Troubleshooting:

  • Check the RS232 connection at the Atlona extenders and the sending device and the device receiving RS232 (i.e. confirm that the TX pin on the RS232 sending device is in fact connected to TX on the Atlona device and similarly for the other pins as well as the connection on the device receiving RS232).
  • Make sure there are no crossed wires/pins.
  • Try flipping the RX and TX

Solution:

If you are sending an RS232 command through the Atlona extenders and cannot control the desired device, but see that feedback is sent back to the source of the RS232 commands (i.e. a control system), this might be due to the TX and Ground pins being in the incorrect place. Please check the connection between the RS232 sender and the Atlona device. Also, check the connection at the Atlona RX and the device you are attempting to send RS232 into.
