KB01170 - Passing RS232 commands through the AT-UHD-CLSO-824 to the either an HDVS receiver or HDVS transmitter used on the HDBaseT input (transmitter) or HDBaseT output (receiver)

SKU: AT-UHD-CLSO-824, AT-HDVS-200-TX, AT-HDVS-200-TX-WP, AT-HDVS-200-RX

Subject: Passing RS232 commands through the AT-UHD-CLSO-824 to the either an HDVS-200 receiver or HDVS-200 transmitter used on the HDBaseT input (transmitter) or HDBaseT output (receiver)

Solution: The AT-UHD-CLSO-824 can send serial commands from its RS232 input to an HDBaseT input or output which can be paired with an RS232 enabled HDBaseT transmitter or receiver such as the AT-HDVS-200-TX (and AT-HDVS-200-TX-WP) as well as the AT-HDVS-200-RX. This can be used to toggle the inputs on the HDVS-200-TX(TX-WP) or send a power on/off command to a display or projector used on the output of the AT-HDVS-200-RX.  To accomplish this is:

  • Connect your RS232 cable to the master RS232 port of the 824 unit:

  • Next, determine which HDBaseT input or output you want to send the command out of:

  INPUTS

OUTPUTS

  • After you determine your desired HDBaseT zone, you can send a command from either a serial program or your control system with the following syntax (let’s say we want to send RS232 to zone 15 to control your TV on the other end): RS232zone15[command for your display/projector goes here]<carriage return>. If your display requires a carriage return, please add it within the square brackets. If your display uses HEX commands, you can convert the string above to hex and send it through the 824:

For example, “RS232zone15[]” = 52 53 32 33 32 7a 6f 6e 65 31 35 5b 5d

Alternatively, you can send a command from the 824 to change inputs on the HDVS-200-TX used on its #1 HDBaseT input. The command will be:

RS232zone11[WP_Input[Vga]$<carriage return>]<carriage return>]

Please note that these commands are case sensitive and require

  • If you need to change the baud rate or other RS232 settings to match the settings of your display, you can do so via the 824’s web interface under the “Config” page:

If you have any issues with controlling your display, make sure that your RS232 cables on the HDBaseT receiver are correctly connected to your display:

It is recommended to try passing RS232 commands directly to your display from a PC or control system to see if the display responds.

If you have tried the steps above and cannot get the RS232 working, please contact Atlona Support for assistance.

Please note, the CLSO-824 is not designed to control the AT-HDVS-150-TX, AT-HDVS-150-TX-WP or AT-HDVS-150-RX.
