KB01254 - Optimal Configuration Guide for OmniStream-121 and 122's.

SKU: AT-OMNI-121, AT-OMNI-122

Subject: Optimal Configuration Guide for OmniStream-121 and 122's.

This guide is intended to instruct on the Optimal Configuration for an Omnistream 121/122.

By default, when out of the box or upon factory default, the AT-OMNI-121/122 is set to DHCP mode. In this mode, each encoder that is connected to the Local Area Network (LAN) will automatically be assigned an IP address by the DHCP server, allowing communication with AMS. AMS will only be able to discover the encoders if they are on the same VLAN. Refer to the User Manual for details on configuring encoders to static IP mode. To determine the IP address of the encoder, use the Atlona Management System (AMS) app. AMS is available only for the Windows® Operating System (virtual Windows is OK).

If necessary, mDNS/Bonjour can also be used to discover the IP address of the encoder.

  1. Launch the Atlona Management System app.
  2. Launch a web browser and enter localhost:8080 in the address field.
  3. Enter the login information on the AMS web page, then click the Login button.
  • Login: admin
  • Password: admin123 (or any credentials that have been created)
  1. Under the Domain View panel, locate the IP address for the encoder. Dual-channel

OmniStream encoders and decoders will be labeled as OMNI-121 and OMNI-122. See below:

Upon plugging the units in and finding the IPs of the unit via AMS’s mDNS device discovery tool, we recommend

  1. Changing the IP address to one that is static
  2. Changing the Multicast addresses for the Encoders so there are no duplicate IP address conflicts

Please verify that your sources are plugged in well with high-quality HDMI cables and are outputting video signal. You will be able to see if the Omni sees your video data under the Input tab in the HDCP section.

We also suggest configuring your bit rate on the encoder side, under Encoding, for the signal you are trying to send through. 900 is recommended for 4k while 450 is recommended for 1080p video signals.

It is recommended that each stream is assigned a unique multicast address and port address. By default, the Omnistream encoder and decoder video and audio streams will have a default multicast IP address of 226.0.0.X. If you are planning on doing a one-to-many setup, we recommend changing these so there are no IP conflicts. You can change them easily in AMS under the Session tab. If you are doing 1 to 1 unicast routing you do not need to change the addresses.
